If you have uneaten chicken kiev in your freezer, don’t eat it until you verify that it was not included in a recent recall. On October 24, 2014, the USDA Food Safety & Inspection Service issued a recall of almost 30,000 pounds of chicken kiev due to a possible link to salmonella. To date, at least six illnesses have been linked to this particular chicken.
The recalled chicken kiev can be identified by the following:
- Is partially prepared chicken that was sold under the Anitoch Farms brand name
- Contains the sell by dates of October 1, 2015 and October 7, 2015
- Include the number P-1358 inside the USDA mark of inspection
- Packages are the single 5-oz variety in plastic packets
- Can be described as: Raw Stuffed Chicken Breast Breaded, Boneless Breast of Chicken with Rib Meat "A La Kiev"
