Stephan Matanovic

Stephan Matanovic received his B.A. from the University of Virginia in 1995 and his J.D. from Temple University's Beasley School of Law in 1998. He is a member of the Pennsylvania and American Bar Associations, the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association, and the Pennsylvania Association for Justice, for whom he chairs the Cyber-services Commttee and writes a regular technology-related column.

Stephan joined Golomb & Honik in 2004 after many years representing corporate clients. His practice focuses on complex civil litigation, including class actions and multi-jurisdictional matters, involving trial and appellate work in state and federal courts. He has extensive experience litigating a wide range of complex matters surrounding toxic torts, with a particular emphasis on claims involving exposure to beryllium, as well as with securities, antitrust, and insurance litigation.

Stephan has obtained significant recoveries for individuals suffering from the effects of beryllium exposure, and for institutional and individual investors pursuing claims against corporations for securities fraud. In addition, Stephan successfully achieved the reformation of 100’s of insurance policies by securing monetary and injunctive relief for insurance policyholders who purchased illusory disability coverage.  Stephan has also litigated cases under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) and other employee benefits laws, and has represented litigants in American Arbitration Association and Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) proceedings.

Stephan lives with his wife and their two young sons in the Bella Vista section of Philadelphia.  An avid rower, Stephan is the Board President of the University of Virginia Men's Rowing program, and is an active member of Fairmount Rowing Association on Philadelphia's historic Boathouse Row.

   
   
Andrew R. Spirt

Andrew R. Spirt graduated from American University in 1990 and Texas Wesleyan School of Law in 1994. Mr. Spirt devotes his practice to representing individuals who have sustained injuries in accidents caused by motor vehicles, medical negligence, defective products and other types of negligent conduct. Through over 10 years of practice, he has successfully secured substantial recoveries for his clients by way of settlement and verdicts in jury trials in cases involving medical negligence, motor vehicle accidents and premises liability. Mr. Spirt is presently a member of PaTLA and PTLA.

Prior to joining Golomb & Honik in 2005, Mr. Spirt practiced for many years in the Philadelphia area where he handled catastrophic personal injury litigation cases, as well as a wide variety of commercial litigation cases. In law school, Mr. Spirt served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Terry R. Means in the District Court of Texas. He is presently licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and States of New Jersey and Texas.

 
 
Damien Zillas

Damien Zillas
Damien Zillas graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University at Albany in 2000. After graduation, he worked as a business systems analyst before attending Temple University's Beasley School of Law, from which he earned a Juris Doctor degree in 2005. While studying at Temple, Damien tutored underprivileged kids in North Philadelphia, served as a law clerk, and participated on Temple's Moot Court Team.

Damien began his legal practice at a defense firm, where his focus was on products liability cases, but also included work on premises liability and automobile cases as well. Eager to continue to develop his practice, Damien took a job with a plaintiffs firm that represented clients in medical negligence, catastrophic injury, toxic torts and class action suits. In this role, he assisted in the representation of a number of individuals who contracted brain cancer or tumors as a result of living near a chemical plant that had dumped dangerous toxins into an unlined waste lagoon for many years. He also represented a class of healthy individuals who lived in the same area in a medical monitoring class action.

At Golomb and Honik, Damien represents clients with a range of injuries, including those with catastrophic injury, caused by medical negligence, defective products, automobile accidents and other personal injury claims.  He also represents victims in medical monitoring and consumer class action cases.

Damien is currently a member of the American Association for Justice, Philadelphia Bar Association and the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association. He lives in Ardmore, Pennsylvania with his wife, Lynn, and their two young sons, Lucian and Calder. A dedicated and competitive runner, Damien has raced a number of marathons and plans on running at least one in every state.

 
 
Damien Zillas

Kenneth J. Grunfeld
Kenneth J. Grunfeld joined Golomb & Honik in 2010 after many years defending pharmaceutical manufacturers, national railroads, asbestos companies and corporate clients in consumer protection, products liability, insurance coverage and other complex commercial disputes while working at one of Philadelphia's largest and most prestigious defense firms. He brings with him a wealth of trial and appellate work experience in both state and federal courts.

Now that Ken has "switched sides," today his practice focuses on representing consumers in class actions against pharmaceutical manufacturers, banks, credits cards, consumer electronics companies and other national corporate defendants. He also represents injured people in products liability mass tort matters. In addition, Ken represents clients who have suffered catastrophic injury as a result of medical negligence, dangerous products, automobile accidents and premises liability claims. 

Ken received his undergraduate in 1996 from the University of Michigan and is an active member of the Michigan Alumni Association, Philadelphia chapter. He received his J.D. in 1999 from the Villanova University School of Law. He was a member of the Villanova Law Review and graduated Order of the Coif. He is a member of the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and American Bar Associations and a new member of the Pennsylvania Association for Justice.

Ken now makes his home in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania, where he resides with his wife Jennifer and his four-year old twins.

   
   
Brent Wieand

Brent Wieand graduated from The Pennsylvania State University in 2004 obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Management. In 2009, Mr. Wieand graduated from Emory Law School. While in law school, he worked as a legal intern for the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office and the Internal Revenue Service, and served as a law clerk for a plaintiff's civil litigation firm in Atlanta, Georgia while attending law school.

At Golomb & Honik, Mr. Wieand's practice areas include professional negligence, personal injury, toxic torts, and product liability cases. He is an active member of the Philadelphia Bar Association, The American Association for Justice, Pennsylvania Association for Justice, and the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association.

   
   
Joshua K. Kutinsky

Joshua K. Kutinsky is an associate with Mark F. Seltzer and Associates. He concentrates his practice on Insurance Law, Disability Insurance, Long Term Disability, ERISA, and Bad Faith.

Mr. Kutinsky graduated magna cum laude from Widener University School of Law in 2004. Mr. Kutinsky is also a graduate of Widener University's JD/PsyD program, where he earned his doctorate in clinical psychology in tandem with his law degree. Mr. Kutinsky was an Articles Editor for The Widener Law Review, a Widener Scholar and member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.

Mr. Kutinsky previously served as the Wolcott Law Clerk to Justice Carolyn Berger of the Delaware Supreme Court, and as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Alison Whitmer Tumas of the Delaware Family Court. He has also worked for the Disabilities Law Program of Delaware's Community Legal Aid Society.

In 2005 Mr. Kutinsky was appointed as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Widener University's Institute for Graduate Clinical Psychology, where he continues to teach courses in addictions treatment. He has written on alternative dispute resolution and on standards of practice for forensic psychologists, and has co-authored numerous publications on mental illness and the death penalty.

He is a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder, where he earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in Psychology and in Philosophy. He is a member in good standing of the Pennsylvania Bar.
