Philadelphia Attorney Richard Golomb’s schedule now features two speaking engagements that are part of regional continuing legal education programs. He was invited to address members of the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association on the topic of Evidence in November 2004. He also accepted an invitation to discuss Ethics before a group from the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association in March 2005. Both events were in Philadelphia.
Ruben Honik Elected Vice President of Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association Will Ascend to Presidency in 2006
At the 2004 annual meeting of the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association (PaTLA) in Hershey in July, 2004, Philadelphia Attorney, and long-time board member Ruben Honik was voted to the Vice-Presidency of the association. The position is part of a succession schedule, which calls for Honik to become president-elect of the 3,500-member group in 2005, and then president in 2006.
“My election to this position at the PaTLA comes with great challenges, but they are exciting challenges that we can tackle together,” he says. “We have to do everything we can to preserve fair access to the civil justice system for all Pennsylvanians, while insuring that unfair and unreasonable legislation against consumers and victims¾like caps on damages¾are not turned into law. It’s also part of the job to inspire tremendous cooperation between the 3,500 state-wide members on issues such as Supreme Court rulemaking, trial and appellate civil procedure rules, state-wide continuing legal education, brief writing in important appellate cases as a ‘friend of the court,’ and in supporting various legal pro bono efforts throughout the commonwealth.”
In addition to challenges, Honik points out that his position with the PaTLA comes with many benefits. “It is a great way to keep abreast of the latest legal developments across the state as they happen,” he says, “which only helps me better serve my own clients at Golomb & Honik. The PaTLA also puts me in regular contact with the pre-eminent firms that serve to support our clients throughout the Commonwealth—including experts and advisors.”
